First Kart Wins TAG Chassis Shootout

The final results from the third annual KartSport Chassis Shootout were recently released in the digital June 2008 edition of KartSport Magazine.

In what was considered an upset by many in the industry, the new First Kart VR 32C beat out five other contenders to claim the title of best TAG chassis in the land. After hours of consideration and sifting through their test data, pilots Michael Rossi and Wes Boswell came to the same conclusion: the First Kart was IT. Rossi: I fit pretty well into this kart, it’s a quite nice European piece. Everything was in the right place, where you’d expect it. It had the most effortless steering, super light, but I what I really liked was how you could really feel the kart get up on the front and transfer its load, it was doing everything it should do. Even on the used tires it was hooked up, this thing was on rails. I can’t say enough about how good it was from the very first session.

Boswell: I agree with Michael. It’s one of the karts where you could throw it to the inside to make a pass and not worry about your entry, because this kart will take care of you on the other side.

Rossi: Yes, you could push it as hard as you want, go into a corner all messed up, and the kart will sort it out. And it just soaked up the bumps and curbs like a sponge.

Boswell: For someone of my height, I think if the seat was tipped back a little bit it would be better. Though in the last corner, the big left hander, it felt really good where I could push it in deep, and whether I overdrove or under drove it, it was beautiful through there.
