Exclusive - Thonon Feature

Here’s an excerpt from the latest digital KartSport Magazine, as we take a close look at reigning KZ1 shifter World Cup champion Jonathan Thonon.

That set the stage for Thonon’s 2007 campaign, which established him as the pre-eminent shifter kart pilot in the sport. He began with a championship in the rapidly growing WSK series, and then narrowly missed out on the CIK KZ1 Euro title, his first, second, and third placed finishes from four races being bested by Alessandro Manetti’s pair of wins and a third. Yet Jonathan got the last word at the World Cup, besting the entire field with a calculated win at Sarno, as he just nipped Marco Ardigò to the checkered by three tenths of a second.

With the World Cup title in his back pocket, there remained just one land left to conquer: the United States, where shifter kart racing is king and attracts the highest levels of talent and commitment found in North America. The late season SuperNationals held in Las Vegas would provide the platform, along with a $10,000 cash prize to the winner.
